MATCH ONE

BMFC 5 - 1 CPAFC

Dear team, yes we may have lost last night but we can take a lot of positives away from the game. it was out first game of the season and we now know what level we need to be performing at. Lets not sulk and have our heads bowed down and bottom lip out, lets raise our heads high and use this as a catalyst to start our season! a lot of the goals last night came from our inexperience and lack of knowledge for the rules eg no slide tackle, no pass back to keeper.   This will not happen again as our grasp of the rules grow and our fitness sharpens. last night was the teething stage in this young teams life, we as a team will grow! we as a team will win!
well done to top goal scorer Jim! his goal last night was a piece of footballing genius, beating his man, coming inside and finishing with great aplomb and also special thanks to Simon for offering to go in goal in Atifs absence. This has gained him the first man of the match performance of the season!
I'll see you all Thursday night for training, then its Giant Robot FC next Thursday lets join together in unity and beat them CPFC WILL RULE SUPREME!

MATCH SIX

CPAFC 9 - 2 Not So Goodfellows

Today we celebrate our first victory as a team! the 23rd of August will forever now be known as VG day (victory at goals day).

We annihilated Not so Goodfellows in a stunning 9-2 display of footballing genius.   Debutant Phil'EidurGud'Johnson was the catalyst we needed to kick start our season, he played like a pro linking up well with strike partner Graeme Kennedy and stroking the ball around the midfield with passes reminiscent of a young Platini. He also capped of his man of the match display by turning a player on the edge of the box and finishing with great aplomb.

The rest of the goals came courtesy of a Simon (I'm better than Wayne Rooney) Binns, A Kris Long thunderbolt into the bottom corner, a brace from Scottish player of the year Graeme Kennedy and two from myself. Also a mention to Atif Khan who yet again gave an infallible display in goal and Saleem and Jim who were rocks in defence. An all round brilliant team display! lets keep it up lads and keep the momentum flowing for next Tuesdays game against Dynamic five.

MATCH 7

Dynamic5 7 - 4 CPAFC

Bonjour Team mates. I am sad to report that our brief flirtation with a winning streak is now over.   After the heroics of last week we now have another defeat on our hands, thanks to the dynamic, Dynamic Five.   It was a hard fort battle which ended 7-4.   We never really showed the glimpses of excellence that we produced last week and even with the same core players we still lost.   It was a good night however for our Scottish player of the year Graeme Kennedy as Jim was away with a bank holiday sized hang over he took over as the player with most appearances with 6 and also took over the goal scoring charts with another two superbly taken efforts.   His first coming from a great individual run into space, fantastic control from an inch perfect Kris Long pass and much perseverance as his first shot cannoned of the wall he was first to react and fired home from the edge of the box.   The other two goals came courtesy of a wonder strike from   influential midfield general James Caves and a customary goal from myself.   The result wasn't as planned but not to worry as there are some positives to be brought out of the game! Those guys are joint top of the league and we matched them on every aspect and we have now played everyone in the league! We've got BMFC again next week and we should be looking at beating them and showing how much we have improved not just on fitness levels but on togetherness and teamwork.   We played them on the opening day of the season and lost 5-1 which wasn't a fair representation of how we played, we can beat them easy! come on lads!
The stats now seem to be monopolised by a certain Scottish wizard so don't pass to him next week!

I'm not hear next week as im off gallivanting on holiday again, Mr Caves and Kennedy will be left with the task of composing the emails and rallying the troops.
do me proud guys!
CPAFC till I die,

your Chairman, Manager, Kit man, Ball boy, Biggest fan and all round CPAFC enthusiast.

MATCH 8

CPAFC 13 - 2 BMFC

Guys what can I say about that performance.

It was truly magnificent. Every hero who stepped onto that pitch last night play their hearts out and proved the board of selectors right in their choice of squad.

It would be unfair to single out players as having lead the way but Mr Long needs special mention as the man of the match. His performance epitomised everything that went right for us last night and his will to win was an example I'm pleased to say was followed by all.

Of course Mr Kahn deserves special mention for some super saves as ever, and one which will stick in the memory for a very long time. We will only know if there is any permanent damage when we meet Atif junior.

Last night BMFC played as we normally do. After a few sloppy goals heads went down, they argued with the ref and each other and they lowered their commitment. That has to be a very important lesson to us and one that we take into the rest of the season. We should take so much confidence from that match. We can score goals and we can be solid in defence. Play like that every week and we'll be top of the league next season.

I believe in you CPAFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are hunting down the robot of giant proportions now and I reckon we can take them in a couple of weeks to move into 4th spot in the league.

Next week see the return of our true inspiration Danny Cassidy as well.

Well played everyone and lets keep up this form.

MATCH 9

CPAFC 3 - 5 Giant Robot

hey guys

It is my sad duty to report another loss for the mighty CPAFC.

Once again we snatched the opportunity for a victory and threw it away in a couple of minutes of madness!!!!!!

Not a lot that can really be said about that performance. We all know what went wrong and know what we need to improve.

Lets try to recreate the team spirit we had a couple of weeks ago and go back to our winning ways.

We can be a good side, we can be strong at the back and we can score goals.

Basically this team is like my old school reports - 'shows potential, but could do better'.

MATCH 10

The Real M.E Deal 3 - 1 CPAFC

I have very little to say in these reports now.

another loss for the mighty CPAFC, however we can not be dis-heartened by the performance. we may have lost but we did so many thing right last night (and yet quiet a few wrong)

we have improved so much in this season and it is being noted by our opponents and reflected in our results. unfortunately we still do not have the killer instinct and ability to win.

next week is 'Liverpool Pensioners' so even if Mahfooz plays we shouldn't be putting out the oldest player.

James (I play like a young Roberto Baggio but I can take a penalty) Caves

MATCH 11

CPAFC 7 - 1 Liverpool Pensioners

Hey guys

The anticipation of a victory was well founded!!!!

In their final games before a well earned break mar Kahn and mr Patel showed us all what we will be missing by putting forward two outstanding performances.

Saleem's strength and composure on the ball should be an example to us all and he even managed to score (although not quite as he meant it)

Whereas team Atif gave an example of how to fall over and get hit by the ball (oh and he did save that penalty - but didn't keep a clean sheet)

Captain Fantastic once again led from the back (although he did end up on it a couple of times as well!!)

Up front Mr Binns mixed pace with skill and a well taken goal and the boy wonder Cassidy played as if his little heart depended on it.

Mr Kennedy had an ok match I suppose, but he did only score a hat-trick so should probably try to improve for future matches. More worthy of note was his near own goal which was only averted by the spine-cracking of mr kahn!!!!!

This was ultimately a team performance and in my opinion our best performance so far. We knew what we were doing and changes were smooth and effective.
We finally put into practise rotating the team well and always leaving 2 defensive minded players on, giving us structure and confidence.

Another positive was our style of play. Rather than fearing the opposition and sitting back, waiting to soak up pressure we pushed forward and put the pensioners on the back foot. We need to take this on and do it in our other matches We are a good attacking side (not at shooting exactly), but at putting pressure on and we need to play our own game.

We are now 3 points clear of the pensioners and are in a solid 5th position in the league. Hopefully there will be no slip ups and we will maintain this position until the end of the season. Not a bad result for our first attempt and now we are finding our feet we should look forward to next season with a lot hope.

There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the season (organised by Danny and myself) and we hope for a good night out afterwards for anyone who is interested.
This will take place in about 5 weeks time so make a note and time and location will be confirmed shortly.

James (if Peter Crouch is worth 7million then i'm worth 8) Caves

MATCH 12

F Unit FC 9 - 7 CPAFC

Hey guys

Last night could have been the greatest moment in the long prestigious history of CPAFC.
However it was not, and i blame Simon (but only because he does not read these e-mail!!!)

On a serious note that was possibly our best performance this season and gives me real hope for the forth coming season where we will be contenders for the title.
Against the best side in the league (statistically) we put in a performance that not only shocked them and matched them but humbled them and over-ran them.
Every member of the squad who was selected for this match played like a champion and deserved to be walking to work today on a high.
We raised our game (as we tend to do against the better teams) and fought. I think everyone got a warning from the ref last night, but that passion, commitment and strength in the challenge is what has been missing in so many of our other performances. We need to carry this on to other matches now and we will be a much stronger team.

Special mention needs to be made for Simon who once again stood up as the man willing to go between the posts in oliver Kahn's absence. he put in an excellent performance and made some saves that really did keep us in it during the first half.

And Woody (not the toy story character), who on his debut scored 4 and has now overtaken Saleem and Somo and has matched Long for goals!!!!

Over the last few weeks we have all put in a little bit extra and a few things have clicked into place. We need a magic number of 7 players each week (3 strikers and 3 defenders) and we rotate after 5 mins like for like. This has given us structure and has improved our performances exponentially. People know what they are doing and are growing in their roles. I would like to take this opportunity to quote the wonderful D:REAM and say 'Things can only get better'.

Next week it's 'Not So Good Fellows' a team we should beat but only if we repeat last nights performance.

I have high hopes for next season. We have a strong squad, we know our roles in the team and we can out play anyone in our league (as we showed last night).

Come on CPAFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

James (pass me the ball and I'll supply the Ronaldo style finish) Caves

MATCH 13

CPAFC 11 - 2 Not So Goodfellows

Hey guys

It is my pleasure to announce our first ever double over a team in our league!!!!

Last night we could have been stretched as only 5 players turned out for CPAFC, after late pull-outs by Long and Wood. However our fitness has improved since the start of the season and we were playing the least athletic team in our league

Everyone put in a magnificent performance and we all played with skill, pace, accuracy and passion.

In net Binns put forward a display that should leave Khan wondering if he will get back in the team. He blocked everything, getting his body in some good positions and at time making some impressive saves (including a contender for save of the season in the dying seconds which was already past him when he flashed out a hand!!!).
In fact his only error was not keeping a clean sheet due to his inability to keep his legs shut (which is normally the problem for the women he brings back to our flat!!!)
However you are not to worry Khanny as we have found our no. 2 keeper but you will always be the no.1 (we need si out more)

In his role as the defensive rock Mr Boorman was imperious and allowed no shot to get past him. He must have made 50 blocks last night and perfected his trick of standing on the ball to stop the opposition getting past him. He had complete control at the back and also scored 2 goals to take him into 3rd place of the scoring chart!!!

Mr Cassidy as ever ran around a lot and encouraged to the ref to play on for another 30 minutes which would have killed most of us and certainly scared the opposition!!!
However his commitment to CPAFC can never be doubted and he chased down everything. Unusually for Danny though he appeared to be in control at times last night and rather than diving in chose his moment to steal the ball, run down the wing, shoot, miss and watch as Kennedy put in the re-bound.

As ever Kennedy showed why he has become the symbol of CPAFC. An ever present for the entire season (unless there is a no-show next week) he started slowly and yet ended the match with the record of most goals scored in one match (stealing it from Woody who had set the bar last week), with an astounding 5 goals!!! Taking his impressive tally to 21 and giving me little chance of catching him!!

One of the real strengths of last night was our commitment. It is easy to keep your head up and enjoy the game when the opposition are weak but it is also easy to become casual and we did not. For the whole game we were first to the ball, going in for challenges and generally showing a will to win. We have also started being for aggressive which is helping us dominate over the other teams in our league and is getting us noticed.

We believe that we can win this thing next season and we are not the only ones. Other teams are taking note of what we do, how we play and how many we score. Lets not let ourselves down by not playing like this next season!!!!! Last week is the last match of this season and is going to be a tough match against one of the top teams, however on recent performances we have nothing to fear. There will be a presentation night soon and I will be sending out an e-mail for the players player of the year. So start thinking about who has been you favourite player this season.

Your captain for next week
James Caves

MATCH 14

Dynamic5 9 - 7 CPAFC

Well guys it's all over

CPAFC is no more (until 9:30 next week when we begin our push for the title)

The season has been long and difficult. Full of pitfalls and dangers. There has been success and bitter disappointment, but throughout Danny has kept everyone smiling and happy in the knowledge that they are not the worst player to adorn a CPAFC shirt!!!!

Last night was supposed to be our crowning glory but unfortunately the gods of goals were not smiling upon us and we lost.
A habit we have got very good at this season but need to stop as of next week!!!!

Last night we were slow to react, second to the ball and just seemed like we didn't care anymore.
We knew we had finished in 5th place and had no chance of climbing a place or dropping one unless Liverpool pensioners had won by a clear 56 goals.
I blame the lack of match fitness down to no action on Thursday's (Mahfooz!!!!!!!!!!!), but don't worry as we booked it last night for next Thursday.

Having said that it was not the worst performance of the season and we should not get dis-heartened.

Next week is the beginning of a whole new season and we must concentrate on that.
We have Wood back after his bout of bird flu, Khan has bought himself a new spine off eBay and mr Patel is no longer grounded and is allowed out at night by his mother.
Hopefully the return of 3 of the more senior members of our squad will give us the boost we need to mount a challenge for the title.

Special mention needs to be made for the Scottish player of the year Mr Kennedy who not only earned the golden boot but has also been an ever present member of the team throughout season one.

Thank you all for the past 14 weeks. We will be holding the awards night very soon and hope you can all make it.
If any one has anything they would like to add about the season I would be glad to hear as I can then add that to the scrap book of CPAFC.
